Boston Celtics head coach waxed philosophical on Friday when asked about Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving.
One of the biggest storylines of the 2024 NBA Finals is Irving’s playoff return to Boston.
The 8-time All-Star had an unceremonious exit from the Celtics after a disappointing two-year stint with the team from 2017 to 2019. Irving went from potential Celtics torchbearer to Beantown public enemy in a matter of a few seasons.
Mazzulla spoke to the media on Friday after his team held practice. The 35-year-old coach was asked about Irving being perceived as “a villain” by Celtics fans.
“Aren’t we all in someone’s eyes? We’re all villains in someone’s eyes,” Mazzulla responded before the reporter could finish his question.
