Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed out on a pretty significant offseason bonus, and it seems to have been by his own choice.
Jackson’s contract entitles him to an annual offseason workout bonus of $750,000, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Jackson would receive the bonus if he took part in 80 percent of offseason workouts, but according to Florio, he has already fallen short of that target.
Jackson is not in any trouble for this, as his missed workouts were all voluntary ones. Plus, there is plenty of evidence to suggest he has been working hard away from the team. It is still a bit odd to see someone pass on a free $750,000, though it looks a lot less significant when you consider his contract entitles him to $185 million in guaranteed cash.
If Jackson does want that money, he will have other chances. He has the same bonus in his contract for each of the next three offseasons.
