The football coach who was confused for Vince Young at a recent pro-am golf event has handled the situation perfectly, and fans got a big kick out of the photo he shared on social media afterward.
Golf Channel covered the BMW Charity Pro-Am at Thornblade Club in Upstate, South Carolina, on Thursday. One of the amateurs participating in the event was Young. During the round, Golf Channel reporter Lauren Withrow thought she had secured an interview with the legendary former Texas quarterback, but she was accidentally speaking with Everette Sands, an assistant football coach at The Citadel.
The result was one of the most awkward on-air encounters you will ever see.
On Saturday, Sands shared a photo on X of him posing with Young.
“Great times at BMW ProAm this week!! Had a chance to hang with #VinceYoung!!” Sands wrote.

The height difference between Young and Sands makes Withrow’s blunder even more embarrassing. To her credit, Withrow recapped her day with a note on her Instagram story on Thursday that said she would “learn from the mistakes.”
Withrow and Sands will probably both be hearing about the mishap for the rest of their lives.
