Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis is making a notable change to his jersey number as a nod to his father.
Sabonis will once again wear No. 11 with the Kings next season, the team announced Friday. Sabonis had worn the number for much of his career as a tribute to his Hall of Fame father Arvydas, but has worn No. 10 with the Kings with his preferred No. 11 retired in honor of Bob Davies. Davies’ children granted Sabonis permission to wear the number despite its status.

Sabonis wore No. 11 at Gonzaga and with the Indiana Pacers once he arrived in the NBA. He only switched out of necessity after being traded to the Kings, but will make the change back to No. 11 for next season. It is a neat gesture from the Davies family, as the number has been retired since 1990.
The change comes with Sabonis coming off another very good season for the Kings. He averaged 19.4 points and 13.7 assists per game while playing all 82 games, though the Kings once again failed to break through in the playoffs.
