The floundering Las Vegas Raiders may have to prepare to be without star receiver Davante Adams for the next couple of games or so.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Saturday that Adams is now expected to be week-to-week due to a hamstring injury he suffered in practice on Thursday. On Friday, the Raiders already ruled Adams for this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Now it seems there is the potential of Adams facing “a multiweek absence,” Schefter says.
The six-time Pro Bowler Adams reportedly pulled up lame in the closing minutes of Thursday’s practice. He had been off to a modest start this season for the 1-2 Raiders, catching 18 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown through three games.
Hamstring injuries are particularly tough for wide receivers, who rely on burst at the line of scrimmage as well as quick cuts to get open. Adams, who turns 32 later this year, was already in the news recently over a video of him that sparked trade rumors. But now the much more pressing matter for the Raiders is surviving this next stretch of games without Adams, especially since their bye is not until Week 10.
