Zach Edey is kicking it all the way back to 1987 this week.
The Memphis Grizzlies rookie Edey posed for an incredible viral photo at media day with teammate Yuki Kawamura. Edey, who is 7-foot-4, stood next to Kawamura, a mere 5-foot-8, with a trio of basketballs being held between them to illustrate their drastic height difference.

The picture may look quite familiar to old-school NBA fans. It was a homage to the photo that Manute Bol and Muggsy Bogues, then teammates for the Washington Bullets, posed for at a media day in 1987. Bogues himself even expressed his approval of the Edey-Kawamura pic in a post to his X page.

Bol, who died in 2010, and Bogues actually had an even more extreme height difference. Bol was 7-foot-7 while Bogues was a mere 5-foot-3 (a difference of two feet and four inches).
Edey and Kawamura “only” have a height difference of one foot and eight inches, but they should still bring plenty of excitement to Memphis. While the two-time National College Player of the Year Edey commands a lot of headlines, Kawamura is a baller too and put on a real show at last year’s FIBA World Cup.
