A number of teams likely have interest in acquiring Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams, but at least one playoff contender is reportedly not in the running.
The Kansas City Chiefs are not expected to be a part of the Adams trade sweepstakes, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday.
And while the Jets and Saints interest Adams, there are other teams that remain interested in the Raiders wide receiver.
Despite any speculation, the team not expected to be an option is Kansas City, per sources. https://t.co/YDLCRIFMe2

The Chiefs have an obvious sudden need for a top wide receiver after Rashee Rice suffered a serious knee injury in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Rice was carted off after he had his knee taken out by Patrick Mahomes, who threw an interception and was trying to make a tackle. Initial fears were that Rice suffered a torn ACL, but the Chiefs have yet to make any official announcements about the extent of the injury.
It is possible that Kansas City is not willing to meet the Raiders’ asking price for Adams, which is said to be a high draft pick plus additional compensation. Even if the Chiefs were interested in Adams, the Raiders might not want to trade the six-time Pro Bowl wideout to an AFC West rival and make it harder on themselves to contend in the division.
Adams informed the Raiders on Tuesday that he wants to be traded. He reportedly has two teams at the top of his wish list.
The 31-year-old Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown this season. He missed the Raiders’ Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns after he suffered a hamstring injury during practice. His status for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos is not clear.
