Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders this week, and the star wide receiver reportedly has one team at the very top of his wish list.
Adams wants to play for the New York Jets, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. The six-time Pro Bowl wideout is open to playing for several different teams, but his top choice would be to reunite with Aaron Rodgers.
Most teams that have interest in Adams would need him to restructure his contract in order to help facilitate a deal. Adams is still owed more than $13 million of his $17.5 million salary for this season. He is under contract $35.6 million next year and $36.6 million in 2026. That might give him some level of control over where he ends up, but Rapoport was told the Raiders are committed to doing what is best for their franchise rather than simply granting Adams’ wish.
The New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are among the other teams for which Adams would be willing to play, according to Rapoport.
Adams and Rodgers played together for eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers from 2014-2021. Adams made the Pro Bowl for five consecutive years during that span, and he and Rodgers were one of the best quarterback/wide receiver duos in the NFL.
There were reports last season that the Jets were determined to find a way to acquire Adams. Rodgers also seems to want a reunion with his former teammate, which is hardly a surprise.
Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown through three games this season. He sat out last week with a hamstring injury and is not expected to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
