Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is giving people plenty to speculate about through his social media activity.
Amid a reported trade request from the star receiver, Adams was active on social media Friday afternoon, and the cryptic activity led to fevered speculation. Adams posted an image of poet Edgar Allan Poe to his Instagram story. Arguably Poe’s most famous work is “The Raven,” which led many to wonder if this was Adams’ way of indicating interest in playing for the Baltimore Ravens.

Shortly after posting the photo, Adams added more fuel to the fire. This time, he posted a quote from Poe that seemed like a message to those speculating about a potential trade.

“Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see,” the quote read.
In context, Adams may have been sharing the Poe photo to go with the quote. On the other hand, he had to know that posting the picture was going to fuel rampant speculation either way. That is especially true since the Ravens do make sense as a potential landing spot for the wide receiver, who has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown through three games this season.
Rumors have suggested that there is one team Adams would most like to play for, and it isn’t the Ravens. Regardless, based on Adams’ own added caveat, it’s probably best to read into all this with some skepticism.
