Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark seems to be taking her snub from Team USA personally.
Clark was not among the 12 women on the US women’s basketball roster for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris later this year.
On Sunday, Clark had a classy response when asked by reporters about her Team USA omission. But Clark may have been more fired up about it behind closed doors.
Fever coach Christie Sides was asked about her interactions with Clark after the Team USA roster was released.
“We talked, actually, on the bus,” Sides told reporters. “She got the call [from Team USA] on the bus and she texted me to let me know. … The thing she said was, ‘Hey coach, they woke a monster.’”

Team USA’s reasons for leaving Clark off the roster reportedly border on the absurd.
However, both Clark and Sides acknowledged that the omission does come with a huge silver lining. Clark will get a full month of rest after what’s been a grueling stretch of nonstop basketball for the Fever star.
Clark led Iowa to the NCAA title game in early April and was drafted into the WNBA just a week later. Clark has also been targeted by some of her WNBA peers throughout her rookie campaign.
